Midtjyske Jernbaner was founded in 2008 by the merger of Odderbanen and Lemvigbanen, VLTJ. Since September 2016 Odderbanens infrastructure has been part of Aarhus Letbane.
The first tertiary railway in Denmark, Vemb-Lemvig Jernbane, drove the first official train on the 20th of July 1879. Both passenger and freight traffic was conducted by the company. In 1899 the section Lemvig-Thyborøn was opened. The railway has always strived to adjust the timetable to the greatest extend possible to the wishes and needs of the passengers. A high level of services combined with fast and safe transport makes the trip a nice experience.
On the train of Midtjyske Jernbaner you can have many enjoyable trips, whether you prefer shopping, museums, attractions or enjoying the nature.
In Lemvig there is a nice pedestrian street, where you can visit several interesting shops. At the port you can buy fresh fish or eat at one of the restaurants.
During the train journey you can enjoy the varied landscape, where you pass the dunes and the sea on one side and the fjord on the other side. On the meadows there is a varied bird life.
In Thyborøn you can enjoy the authentic atmosphere of the fishing port, and you can also visit one of the best beaches in Denmark. There are also many interesting attractions, such as Kystcentret and JyllandsAkvariet, who both tell of the life at the coast and show the wildlife under the sea level.
Not far from Vemb Station you can visit the manor house, Nørre Vosborg.

The ticket is valid for 2 adults and 4 children up to 15 years and costs only DKR 99, -
You can travel as much as you like on the day the ticket is valid for. Take the full tour from Thyborøn in the north, through to Lemvig to Vemb in the south ... and back again or vice versa. Enjoy the varied landscape on the entire trip. On Harboøre Tange with the sea, the fjord and the meadow with a rich bird life. You’ll go through a dune landscape near Vejlby and Vrist.
How to buy your family ticket
You can can buy 2 5-zone tickets in the vendingmachine on the train. The two tickets are valid as one Familyticket. Please note that you can only use coins in the vendingmachine and that 2 5-zone tickets cost more than 99 DKK.
